Ballots will be mailed beginning Oct. 17 to more than 350,000 active, registered voters in Arapahoe County for the 2016 General Election.
Littleton, CO – Ballots will be mailed beginning Oct. 17 to more than 350,000 active, registered voters in Arapahoe County for the 2016 General Election.
“Although ballots will be mailed on Oct. 17, the United States Postal Service has indicated it could take up to a week for voters to receive their ballots in the mail,” Clerk and Recorder Matt Crane said. “If you do not receive your ballot in your mailbox by Oct. 24, you should contact Arapahoe County Elections at 303-795-4511.”
All registered voters should review their mailing address and voter registration information at www.GoVoteColorado.com. Individuals may also register to vote using this website.
“It is critical citizens make sure their mailing address is correct on their voter registration. If there is an incorrect mailing address, voters will not receive their ballots on time. During the 2015 Coordinated Election, 22,000 were returned to Arapahoe County Elections because of an incorrect mailing address.”
The 2016 General Election ballot for Arapahoe County is a two-card ballot. It includes several federal, state, and local contests and measures. Voters need to vote both cards and include both ballots in the return envelope.
When marking your ballot, please use black or blue ink and fill in the oval next to your choice completely to ensure it can be read by the ballot counting machines. Remember to sign your ballot envelope, as your signature is required to process your ballot.
Voters may return voted ballots by mail, at an official ballot drop-box location, or visit a Voter Service and Polling Center to vote in-person.
If returning a ballot by mail, voters need to affix 68 cents postage, or two Forever Stamps, to the return envelope. According to USPS, voters need to mail voted ballots by Nov. 1 to ensure it arrives by Election Day. All ballots must be received by the Clerk and Recorder’s Office no later than 7 p.m. on Election Day, Tuesday, November 8.
Voters may also return a voted ballot at any one of Arapahoe County’s ballot drop-box locations from Oct. 17 – Nov. 8. Twenty-four locations will be accessible 24-hours a day. To find ballot drop-box locations and hours of operation, please visit www.ArapahoeVotes.com.
Citizens will be able to vote using an accessible ballot marking device, request a replacement ballot or register to vote at Voter Service and Polling Centers, Monday – Saturday, Oct. 24 – Nov. 8. Individuals can find a list of VSPC locations at www.ArapahoeVotes.com. The website will also include line wait times for each location.
“We see a much larger voter turnout in Presidential Election years.” Crane said. “We encourage voters to cast their ballots early and not wait until Election Day when lines will be longer.”
In Colorado, voters can cast ballots from Oct. 17 – Nov. 8.
“Votes cast in Arapahoe County and across Colorado do make a difference. As a county closely split among Democratic, Republican and Unaffiliated voters, our voters will swing the election for each candidate and measure,” Crane said.
