New Ballot Drop Box Installed at Iliff Station Parking Structure

Arapahoe County Elections Uses CARES Funding to Improve Safety, Increase Access

AURORA, CO, Sept. 28, 2020 – The Arapahoe County Clerk and Recorder’s Office today announced the installation of a new 24-hour ballot drop box at the Iliff RTD Station Parking Structure at 14000 E. Wesley Ave. in Aurora.

Paid for with federal CARES Act funding provided by a grant from Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold, the location was selected based on public comment urging ballot box locations be accessible to commuters using RTD.

“Voters told us they wanted drop boxes close to public transportation, and we listened,” Arapahoe County Clerk and Recorder Joan Lopez said. “We’re so happy to collaborate with the City of Aurora to meet voters where they are and give them better access. We’re also extremely grateful for the funding provided by the Secretary of State’s Office to make sure voters stay healthy as they cast their ballots in this election.”

The new box, located just east of the I-225 interchange, was installed too recently to be included on the County’s voter instructions mailings but is featured on the County’s Arapahoe Votes website among a total of 33 total drop box locations across Arapahoe County.

All 24-hour ballot drop boxes will be open beginning Friday, Oct. 9, the same day ballots will be mailed to all active Arapahoe County voters. The safest and most direct method of voting is to complete your mail ballot and return it to the County in a 24-hour drop box this October. Ballots must be returned to the County Clerk by 7 p.m. on Election Night, Nov. 3.

Arapahoe County residents can register to vote, register to receive ballot tracking updates via email or text, and find locations of each of the County’s Voter Service and Polling Centers and ballot drop boxes at arapahoevotes.com.
