On Monday, Nov. 27, representatives from the Arapahoe County Democratic and Republican Parties met with Clerk and Recorder Joan Lopez and Elections Director Bill Mast to review data from the 2023 Coordinated Election.
During Canvass the County Clerk and bipartisan Canvass Board reconcile the ballots cast in an election in order to:
1. Confirm that the number of ballots counted in that election does not exceed the number of ballots cast in that election.
2. Confirm that the number of ballots cast does not exceed the number of registered electors in any precinct; and
3. Certify the abstract of votes cast in the election and transmit the certification to the Colorado Secretary of State.
After reviewing records of all ballots received, ballots rejected, ballots cured and other relevant data, party representatives and the clerk all signed to certify the results as official.
Past canvasses can be viewed on the Arapahoe County YouTube channel’s Elections Playlist.
