Key takeaways:
- A bipartisan test found that Arapahoe County tabulation machines function properly.
- The test occurs before every election to ensure machines tabulate votes accurately.
- Representatives from the Democratic and Republican parties helped conduct the test.
The Clerk and Recorder’s Office successfully conducted its pre-election Logic and Accuracy Test on Wednesday, Oct. 2, finding no discrepancies between hand-counted and machine-counted votes on test ballots.
“Put simply, this means our tabulators are counting and recording votes with 100% accuracy,” said Clerk Joan Lopez. “Our voters can rest easy knowing their votes will be counted correctly.”
The bipartisan testing board, comprising designees from the Arapahoe County Democratic and Republican parties and a representative from the City of Englewood, marked test ballots then hand-tallied votes on those ballots. Next, they ran the test ballots through tabulators, and compared the machine count to the hand count. The counts matched exactly.
Every Colorado county conducts a Logic and Accuracy Testing before elections to ensure the machines are accurately recording votes from paper ballots. Arapahoe County has never failed a Logic and Accuracy Test.
